I started translating due to lack of money, and the lack of money in that case turned out to be a positive circumstance. Since I didn’t have the money to pay for the translations which were needed for A) GLIMPSE) OF), the online and print journal I publish, I started translating part of the contents from English into Greek.
The translations include, among others, Gertrud Stein’s play “What Happened?”, an excerpt from the 8th chapter of “A Thousand Plateaus” by Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari (Second Novella: “The Crack-up,” F.Scott Fitzerald), poems by Anne Boyer and Sandra Simonds, most of the texts and poems of the 1st and 2nd issue of the paper A) GLIMPSE) OF), and 4 poems by Alice Notley which were featured in the 3rd issue. It was the first time they had been translated into Greek. I also had the chance to contact some poets for questions.
I also translated excerpts from contemporary essays about writing and language (by Kathy Acker, Lyn Hejinian etc), and contemporary poems for the experimental writing workshops I was running from 2015 onwards.
I have also translated from English into Greek the book “Speed Tribes / Days and Nights with Japan’s Next Generation” by Karl Taro Greenfeld (Patakis, 1999).
